She's finally here!!!

Kyleigh Blake Marshall' Birth Story

At 38 weeks and 1 day Miss Kyleigh is FINALLY here!!

I am proud to say that I went ALL NATURAL with her Labor and Delivery....except for some needed antibiotics and fluids via IV as well as Pitocin ...so basically just no pain meds.

Let me set the scene...

It is April 8th 2013...and I am so over being pregnant!  I am currently 38 weeks, two weeks past when I has Gabe so in my mind I was PAST due.

I am laying in bed and I wake up around 1am with a slight contraction...no big deal I have been having them for weeks now.  I decide to get a glass of water, re-situate, and go back to sleep.  I wake up again and again and again...so I think, "ok, maybe I should time these things and see if it is time to go to the hospital.  I go into Kyleigh's nursery so I won't wake up Eric and I sit down and rock in her(and Gabe's) glider rocker.  I start to time my contractions and they start out pretty sporadic...30sec 7min apart, 45sec 10min apart, etc, etc...this goes on for about 45 minutes...then they start to even out and are roughly 45sec-1min and 7 min. apart...(they tell you to come in when they last 1 minute and are 5 minutes apart for an hour.  This goes on for about 45min-1hr and they are slowly getting closer and closer together.  I call the "on-call" doctor and he says, "come on in, better safe than sorry". (Should have stayed home longer...)

I call my mom because she has to get up and come over to stay with Gabe and I didn't want to wait too long.

Eric and I pack the car and when my Mom arrives we head to the hospital.  We get to the hospital around 3:30am and are seen by a nurse.  I am STILL only 3 (freakin) cm dilated...been that way for almost TWO WEEKS!  Of course now that we are at the hospital my contracts are back to being sporadic and very spaced.

The "on-call" doctor says, "go ahead and give her a room and see what Dr. Banks wants to do when he comes in".  That was only a couple of hours because he gets in around 6am and it was his scheduled surgery day so he was there even earlier.

From 4am - 6am(ish) when Dr. Banks came in I had made no progress but was still contracting...just less sporadic.  He said we could either go home and see what happens, we could wait it out, or I could get a little push of Pitocin (aka devil juice)...as much as I loath Pitocin I did not want to go home...I was ready to have this baby already.

(Around 9-10am Papa and PawPaw come for a visit and take some pictures.)

(This is me breathing through a mild contraction.  Eric took a nap earlier.)

They start giving me small doses of Pitocin to see if my body will take over.  Two or so hours of Pitocin doses and little progression goes by when Dr. Banks checks me again, so he breaks my water.  Continuing the small Pitocin doses, bouncing on the birth ball and my water being broken I finally start to progress.  My nurse gives me another small dose of Pitocin and BAM...I move from Early Labor, skipping Active Labor and Transition into Pushing within less than 5minutes.

This is when shit GOT REAL...really fast!

I chickened out and started asking for an epidural...they call the anesthesiologist and he is with another patient.

They send Eric out of the room anticipating the anesthesiologist to come in ASAP, but my body starts to take over and I can't NOT push.  I am completely dilated and pushing...when 6min ago I was holding a normal conversation and breathing through my contractions fabulously.

Obviously I am NOT getting an Epidural...shit...why in the hell did I think this would be a good idea...

7min...Eric re-enters the room and realizing quickly, shit...she didn't get an Epidural.  This is the point where Eric becomes completely useless and stands and stares at me like a complete idiot...ghost white. (Poor guy couldn't handle me being in pain.)  At one point I have a washcloth covering my whole face because he dropped it and froze...men?? lol!

8-10min...Dr. Banks arrives and talks me off the ledge.  I struggle through my first push (my body already did a few without me)...after that horrible contraction Dr. Banks tells me, "Let's get this baby out!  Focus on pushing and not yelling.  If you are making noise you aren't pushing hard enough.  Here comes another contraction...F... sorry!, F... sorry! ,F... sorry! Dr. Banks reminds me no noise, just focus on my push.  I push as hard as I can (through only two contractions) and she is already crowing...I look up at Dr. Banks and say, "This was such a horrible idea!"  Here comes another contraction..."This is it!", Dr. Banks says and with that last push Kyleigh Blake Marshall was born at 1:51pm!

(She ripped my pretty good, up and down so I had to be sewn up...that was no fun...)

As they laid her on my chest and I exhaled a sigh of relief all was right in the world.  We had immediate skin to skin contact which was beyond wonderful.  I let them take her while Dr. Banks was working on me because I yelped and startled her, which made me feel horrible.  About five minutes later Dr. Banks is done and Kyleigh is returned to me.  She latches on perfectly the first time and eats for a good 10 minutes.

They weigh and measure her.

7lbs 3oz, 19in long with a head FULL of hair!!!

***You may ask, "Would I go Natural again, yes!"...I know I'm crazy!***

After we went up to our Fabulous room, Miss Kyleigh got her 1st bath!

She LOVES having her hair washed!

But she doesn't like it when you stop!

We had SOOO many visitors come see us at the Hospital!

Get out of my Belly!

Today I feel like I am going to be pregnant for the rest of my life...everything hurts, I can't sleep, and I am just ready.

Kyleigh...it is time for you to hurry your little butt up!

35 Weeks

Here I am at 35 Weeks pregnant or 8 months.  I am very fortunate to have an awesome Photography instructor who is all knowing when it comes to pregnancy.  My instructor, Carl, use to be a certified Midwife/Labor&Delivery Nurse in Sweden.  He has been so helpful throughout this pregnancy answering all of mine and Eric's crazy questions.  He also took this fabulous picture of me as well as a few more that I haven't seen yet.  I can't wait to see how the others turned out, but this has to be the best pregnancy picture of me ever!

When will Kyleigh make her Debut???

As most of you know, or have heard...I will be 36 weeks this Wednesday and I had Gabe at 36 weeks and one day.  Eric is convinced that I will have her this week especially since Dr. Bank's is out of town on a family vacation.  I don't think it will be quite as soon as that, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that she wont come until at least 38 weeks.

19 week Ultrasound & 20 week Appointment

Last week I had my 19 week appointment which included the big gender ultrasound.  We were heading out of town after the appointment so we took Gabe with us.  Thankfully Eric's Dad was able to come with us to keep Gabe entertained so we didn't have to take him into the appointment with us.

Here is our baby girl.

Here's the Looonng video.

Dr. Banks was in Labor/Delivery so I had to reschedule my meeting with him for yesterday.  All was good with baby and me.

Current Stats:
Due Date: April 17th 2013
Total Weight gain: -4lbs
Gender: GIRL!!
Movement: Lots and more often
How I am feeling: I am getting tired a lot and ready to go to bed early almost every night.  My SI is almost in full swing...not fun, but other than that I am pretty good.
Next Appointment: December 26th...this will be the fun Glucose test...hooray!

Cast your vote!

Yesterday I went to the OB for a Checkup/Ultrasound since I fell on Sunday.  They just wanted to make sure that everything was ok and still intact.

All is great with the baby, mommy is still sore and will be for a while but that is what I get for falling on my butt! :)

While I was getting my Ultrasound I asked if we could try to take a sneak peek at the sex of the baby.  We got a pretty good shot.  The Ultrasound tech, my Doctor, and my friend (who is a midwife) all said the same thing...so...I guess we don't have to wait until the 21st as originally planned.

We still have the appointment on the 21st to be 100% sure of the sex as well as do all the important measuring so we are waiting to make the announcement official until then.  Of course we have told friends and close family, but we don't want to tell everyone and then the Ultrasound be wrong.

So, with all of that being said, please cast your vote on my blog...

Boy or Girl???

The voting poll is on my home blog page on the top right side above my pregnancy ticker.

Pitter-Patter

The precious pitter-patter in my tummy has begun.  I started feeling the butterflies a lot this past week and yesterday I felt a true kick and again today.  Right now it is very subtle, but I know soon enough I will have a foot stuck in my ribs. lol!

Third times the charm...yakety yak

Something new has been happening with this pregnancy...started about two weeks ago.  I can't seem to brush my teeth without getting gagged (that is putting it nicely).  No matter what time of day it is I brush once, I get gagged...then I have to brush again which I also get gagged...of course this means I need to brush yet again and I am usually good by the third time.  I am not enjoying this.

Has anyone else experienced this?  I read on line that it is pretty common and my Mom said she did when she was pregnant with me, but I never did with Gabe.  Wondering if it is a baby girl omen???

Me and Baby

33 weeks & 6 days...43 days to go
32 weeks & 6 days...50 days to go
31 weeks & 6 days...57 days to go
30 weeks & 6 days...64 days to go
Here we are at 29 weeks and 6 days...71 days to go
Well it is the 4th of July and I am at home by myself today because Eric has to work. I figured while I have nothing to do I could post some stuff the the blog.

Here we are only 79 days to go...28 weeks and 5 days.

Here we are and it is almost July! It is so freakin HOT in Alabama! What a horrible time to be pregnant and there are so many preggers around Birmingham right now. I guess everyone had a fabulous New Years. Anyway...my pelvis is actually doing a lot better. I have been going to the Chiropractor for the past 2 weeks and it really seems to help. She said that my spine was crooked, my pelvis was twisted and my tail bone was out of wack. I have been going for adjustments pretty regularly and it really seems to be working. On another front...I took yesterday off because I hadn't slept in 4 days and I was completely exhausted. I took some Dr. approved Tylenol PM and tried to de-stress all day. I feel so much better today and I feel like I actually have some energy to get some painting done in the nursery.

27 weeks & 6 days - 85 days to go... 26 weeks & 6 days
Another two weeks down and my back is killing me. I recently got an SI injection in the left side of my pelvis to help with my SI pain, but so far no relief. Oh well...I am sure it will eventually get better. As you can see my belly is getting bigger by the week but little Gabe seems to be running out of room. We are pretty sure that he is going to be all legs...and big feet...because he packs a punch with those feet!

24 weeks & 6 days
23 weeks & 6 days21 weeks & 5 days Here we are..two more weeks and moving right along. Our Little Monster is moving about quite a bit now, but he hasn't started keeping me up at night yet.

19 weeks & 6 days
Well, it has been 2 weeks since our last picture and things are going great. We found out that we are having a boy so I have gotten all registered and starting planning the nursery.

17 weeks & 6 days
One more week down...well almost. We took this weeks picture a day early because I had my makeup done all fabulous for a little shoot I was in this morning at A Pea in A Pod. It will air the week before Mother Day, but I am not sure exactly when. I just figured I wouldn't have my make up all done tomorrow and I wanted to look all pretty. On another note, we only have 4 days and a wake up before we find out if we are having a Raegan or a Collins. By the way, don't forget to cast a vote on our name poll we just added. We need some help on names and these are just the 1st round. Let us know what you think. Love you all!

17 weeks Here we are again at 17 weeks. I am trying to be good and take a picture every week so I can document how big I get, but we will see if I can stick to it. :o) We have only 7 days left before we find out if we are having a girl or boy and then we can really start planning and decorating. Star Wars if it is a boy and Amy Brown Fairies if it is a girl.

15 weeks & 5 days
So here we are at 15 weeks and 5 days. I can't believe we are almost 1/2 way through this thing. We get to find out what this little monster is on April 20th...only a little over 2 weeks until we can decide on a name and start decorating the nursery.

2nd Attempt at 4-D Pictures

What a little booger head! He does not like to have his pictures taken. Thank goodness that he is no longer in the Frank Breach position, he is turned with his head down in the "exit" position. We will get to try one last time for 4-D pictures next week, but who knows if he is going to play along. He is defiantly his fathers son and is already very stubborn. :o)

Even though his face looks all smooched I still think is is adorable!
